Education goals
- To educate students to have core competencies for public health professionals with basic knowledge and skills in biostatistics, epidemiology, environmental health science, health policy and management, and social and behavioral sciences.
- To make students have the abilities in applying professional knowledge and skills to public health practice.
- To foster students’ concerns on international health and sustainable development for the betterment of global health.
Requirement and Credits
Students must complete at least 128 credits including 75 required credits (34-credit courses in public health, 13 credits in basic sciences, and 28 credits in general education) prior to graduation. Electives fall into three disciplinary tracks: biostatistics, epidemiology and preventive medicine (17 credits), health policy and health behavior (19 credits), and environmental health (22 credits). Students at the spring semester in 2nd year must choose one track as their own specialty and have to complete the credits in their own specialty prior to graduation. Note that we emphasize the practical training with students required to complete public health practicum for at least 8-week long training in the local or central health administrations, and private health agencies.
